Medication Disposal

SAVE A STAR DRUG AWARENESS FOUNDATION

Unused pill and drug medications can be disposed of by utilizing the bright green drop box, identified as “Save a Star Drug Awareness Program” in the lobby of the Cary Police Department. The drop box is labeled as “pill and drug disposal drop box”, and can be used to dispose of any unused medications in pill or cream form. Pills must be in a closed bottle or sealed baggie. Creams must be in their sealed tube.

Items NOT ACCEPTED are: liquids, needles, syringes, loose pills, DEA controlled substances or illegal drug substances.

NEEDLE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL

SOLID WASTE AGENCY OF LAKE COUNTY ILLINOIS (SWALCO)

Unused pill and drug medications can also be disposed of at the household chemical waste collection events held by the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, Illinois (SWALCO). SWALCO hosts drop off events twice monthly, and accepted drop off materials include unused medications in pill or cream form.

Items NOT ACCEPTED are: liquids, needles, syringes, loose pills, DEA controlled substances or illegal drug substances.
